Slipware

The first of the Winchcombe Slipware pots got decorated today. It felt very strange at first to be trailing slip but soon got back into it after the first few. There's just something special to me about the process of making slipware pots and to be able to do it at the pottery that first sparked my interest in clay feels great. I hope to be able to spend a couple more weeks at it before we have to switch back to the stoneware production. Somewhere next week we have to fire the woodkiln, which is 3/4 packed right now and is just waiting for a few teapots and chargers to be bisc fired in one of the electric kilns to top it off. It's a fairly quiet time of year right now and Mike Finch is taking his annual leave in India but myself and John are cracking on at a pace to ensure we have a good new range of slipware to put in the shop and fill the stockroom so we are ready for next seasons sales.

That's great to see Matt... and it is special. Are you now Winchcombe's first official blogger too?!! Look forward to seeing the slipware fired.
