Warm pie anyone?!?! Ok Tig yes been a bad blogger, am currently down in Devon staying with Doug, Hil and the boys and cats. Very late now so this may make no sense but MUST MAKE AN EFFORT TO BE A GOOD BLOGGER especially when good things are a happening. Erm what's been happening?!? Loads can't have forgotten it all already!........ ah yes arrived down here on Sunday afternoon to a buying frenzy at Dougs seconds sale and then ventured to the pub for ales and pub quiz. So inevitably I was hungover Monday, I still can't go into a pub and have just one beer! But we ventured into Plymouth as Doug needed to restock an exhibition he has going on there at the museum and we got to see and hold some beautifull old country pots from the vaults! Yesterday was spent making and glazing pots, and talking tea and drinking rot or something along those lines. Dougs workshop at Hollyford has changed quite alot recently and its been nice to get time to make pots here as usually its a flying visit or firing the kiln. Talking of making pots ............................................................................................................................
........................................Mr Fitch's first pot on Michael Cardews kickwheel from Wenford Bridge Pottery now in it's new home at Hollyford. It's a nice wheel, if not a little strange it almost forces you to sit with your shoulders back and a straight spine, but what an amazing piece of kit to use. I really only use an electric wheel at home although I do have kickwheel but I mainly make just necks of jugs on it nowadays and i'd forgotten the slower pace you need to adopt to use one.
Blurry Boat Bideford. Had to go and help pack the bottle kiln outside Burton Art Gallery today which we will help to fire on Friday with Philip Leach as part of a community event. I'd been there before but just to a kiln opening and not inside the Gallery, I had a bit of a shock at some of the pots inside, check out the following photos!!!

Good job Matt!!!!! Hannah and I were chatting about you and Mr. Fitch tonight. We expected you boys were up to no good, but it looks as if you've been very productive. (In between trips to the pub). So glad you have been the responsible one and taken your camera along, please keep the pics coming. I'd love to have a shot of the floor/grate/checker of the bottle kiln. Best of luck w. the firing too. PS you need to RSVP to the Secret Santa thing, we are all waiting on YOU. Ha. Give everyone at Doug's house a hug. (except the cats).
hmmmmmm, v jealous you two. wish i had come dowm again. I'd have been better off staying up late talking with you and not sleeping than lying here staring at the ceiling not sleeping. I thought I was being sensible staying here. Bugger!
Hope it's dry for the firing! Say hi to the lovely Philip please.
